Thug booted woman in back and smashed car window before coughing on cops claiming to have coronavirus

A thug has been caged after going on a rampage where he booted a woman in the back and smashed a car window before coughing on police claiming to have coronavirus.

Rory McIntyre launched his brutal attack on the woman as she tried to get on a bus after he became aggressive towards her in a property they were in.

The 38-year-old then became abusive despite his victim offering to help get him some money, as reports Nottinghamshire Live.

She tried to leave the house, but was stopped and pushed by the yob.

She was then kicked in the back as she left the house and attempted to get on a bus, before he pulled her back, grabbed a piece of wood and smashed a car window.

The owner of the car, which McIntyre had damaged, managed to fend him off using a child's scooter before officers arrived at the scene.

He was disarmed, placed in a police car, in which he attempted to smash the passenger side window with his feet before being removed again.

McIntyre then stated he had Covid-19 and coughed in the faces of three officers during the incident in Nottingham on April 12.

He was jailed for nine months following his sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday May 19.

Police Constable Kulwinder Bazaz, who led the investigation, said: “We hope the victim in this incident is given some closure as the whole ordeal would have caused significant distress.

"I'd like to thank PC Georgina Northwood, who worked tirelessly alongside me on this case, as well as the City Prison Handling Team.

"We are both pleased that the courts have taken swift and decisive action in this case.

"Violence against anyone is abhorrent, but targeting key workers who are the very people on the front-line of dealing with the coronavirus outbreak is a particularly mindless act that puts not only those individuals at risk but also their families, too."
