Thug attacked pal after 'inappropriate' remarks about girlfriend

A thug left his pal with a broken jaw after accusing him of making “inappropriate” remarks to his girlfriend, a court heard.

Robert Reilly, 31, launched a vicious attack against Thomas Powch, kicking the 55-year-old on the head and body as he lay on the ground.

Thomas also suffered a fractured pelvic bone in the street attack in Hay Avenue in Niddrie, Edinburgh, on March 6 last year.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard the men were in Reilly’s home with his girlfriend before the attack and that alcohol and Valium were consumed.

Reilly yesterday admitted the assault to severe injury.

Sheriff Robert Fife deferred sentence until next month.
