A woman had the shock of her life after her boyfriend–who lived with her–had been arrested while she was out of state. That’s what Emily (@emilyssharp) experienced after she left her boyfriend at home alone to visit her family in Tennessee.
In a video with 5,000 views on TikTok, Emily explained the recent debacle her boyfriend had put her in. A week into her trip, he was arrested, and her dogs were left at home completely alone.
Emily was forced to book a ticket home immediately to take care of things. Despite her boyfriend being arrested, she seemed cautiously optimistic. But that’s when her boyfriend told her he had cheated on her the night before he was arrested; he just waited weeks to tell her.
Commenters were stunned by the man’s lack of apparent remorse and the decision-making that led to the incident. Many people had questions about the case, but Emily hasn’t offered any specific clarification.
Commenters weigh in on the case
Many commenters were quick to judge Emily for letting a man live in her house “unsupported.” It raised the question: Should a man live in your house if you “have” to support him financially? Is that a sign that he could be up to more nefarious things?
Commenters seemed to agree with the idea. There’s no rulebook on how to live life, however.
One wrote, “Lesson here: No ‘man’ needs to be taken into a woman’s house and supported and motivated to reach his goals. Live with your mom if that’s the case. That usually just means you have found an undisciplined, unfocused, untrustworthy boy in a man’s body.”
Is the video about the boyfriend satirical?
There’s a possibility that Emily is being satirical, although it’s hard to tell based on the video alone. In a previous video, she referenced another series by a content creator who is “in love with her psychiatrist,” a satirical series that garnered millions of views on TikTok. In that video series, a woman “falls in love” with her psychiatrist. Emily mentioned that the series was reasonable.
“I don’t see an issue. I also was in fact in love with my psychiatrist,” she clarified, and added, “with my knee surgeon, my physical therapist…” She then proceeded to detail her interactions with a variety of medical professionals in her life with a somewhat humorous tone. Emily could be 100% serious about being in love with each of these.
