A thrifty young woman has upcycled an old plastic chair into an elegant accent dining seat in just one day and for the cheap price of £7.50.
Roxy Nimmiz, a content creator from Kenya, began brainstorming DIY options when she wanted to purchase new accent chairs for her home, but found the options too pricey.
Once she had a scheme in mind, Roxy purchased foam, adhesive glue and fabric materials from a local shop, before setting to work.
Photos taken during the DIY process show she used cardboard to cover the plastic chair before gluing the foam on top.
Then she laid the fabric and tufted it into the seat, pinned into the chair with white buttons.
The legs of the chair have been spray-painted gold, adding to the luxury feel of the DIY project.
The final result is a plush-looking chair covered in velvety looking fabric, with tufts that have been pinned into the chair with white buttons.
The contrast of the green, gold and white helps to polish off the chic design and the materials cost £15, with Roxy able to transform two plastic chairs at £7.50 for each piece of furniture.
Roxy posted photos of her DIY project on Facebook, where users were left blown away by the “stunning” results.
Several users asked for more direction on how they, too, could create a chair like Roxy's.
“What a great idea,” one person said.

Roxy said inspiration for the project, which took her just one day, came from Pinterest.
"I’m really happy with the final results and I'm proud of the transformation I did on my plastic chair,” she said.
“I love how it has given my space an elegant look.”
