Thrifty woman couldn't afford £53 dress so makes it herself for just £10

A DIY fan made her own version of a £53 dress she was desperate to own - and people are saying its better than the original.

There's nothing worse than discovering your dream outfit online before realising it comes with an expensive price tag.

TikTok user Jennifer Darlington fell in love with a mint green dress from fashion brand Verge Girl.

After being put off by the hefty price of £53, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

In the clip, the fashionista showed how she sourced similar off-cut fabric for less than £10 to recreate the expensive garment.

She then used a top to work out what size to make the dress at home for less.

She sewed the dress to look almost identical to the original, with some fans praising her version as better.

People loved the DIY video, which has since racked up more than 78,000 likes.

One fashion fan wrote: "Yours looks way better!"

Another agreed: "Yours looks better than the site's."

One commented: "Girl! Sell the pattern/instructions for it. I would buy in a heartbeat."

Jennifer explained: "I learned to sew at college. but there's loads of really good YouTube tutorials now."

Her recreation has proved so popular, she has decided to start selling her home-made items on Depop.
