Three youths arrested after takeaway delivery drivers threatened and robbed

Three arrests have been made by police after fast-food takeaway delivery drivers were threatened and robbed, GMP have revealed.

Officers in Trafford launched an investigation after a spate of robberies in the Partington area.

The M.E.N. last month reported some takeaways refused to deliver to certain areas as a result.

Now GMP Trafford North have revealed three youths have been arrested and questioned on suspicion of robbery.

Enquiries are continuing.

All three arrests were made last Saturday.

GMP said enquiries were continuing (MEN)

No ages for the suspects have been revealed, but all three were said by police to be 'juveniles'.

Suspected stolen goods were also recovered during one of the arrests, police said.

All three have been released on bail pending further investigations.

GMP Trafford North gave an update on Facebook.

The division said: "Robbery update - Partington.

"On Saturday 22nd February, officers from Trafford West Neighbourhood Unit arrested three youths on suspicion of robbery following a number of robberies on take-away drivers in Partington.

"The investigation is ongoing."

The M.E.N. reported last month that according to police, there have been four reported robberies in the Partington area since January 11.

Officers said large amounts of food were being ordered to addresses, with drivers ambushed as they arrived at them.

A post on GMP Trafford South's Facebook page urged anyone with information to contact police:

It read: "Since January 11, we have had four reports of robbery reported at different locations within the Partington area.

"A group of youths wearing face coverings have been ordering take away food orders at large values to random addresses and making threats of violence to the delivery drivers on their arrival.

"On one particular incident a wooden bat was used to threaten a driver.

"This behaviour needs stamping out.

"One company has now refused to deliver to the area unless the goods are pre-paid over the phone."
