Three young rabbits found dumped by bins in Basford

Three young rabbits has been found dumped in an cage next to some bins in Basford

They were taken in by a member of the public who found them on March 3 and  called the RSPCA for help.

The rabbits, two girls and one boy, were all in good health and are thought to be around four months old.

The rabbits were collected by RSPCA Inspector Laura Kirkham who later took them to RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre.

Laura said: “We are grateful to the member of the public who found the rabbits and kept them safe until we collected them.

It’s really sad that someone appears to have just left them. No matter what the reason, abandoning an animal alone and in a situation like this is never okay. There is no guarantee that an abandoned animal will be found or not become hurt or lost.

“If someone is struggling to cope, there are lots of charities who could help and we would urge you to ask for help.

“My worry is that they were perhaps an unwanted litter from someone who perhaps had got rabbits during lockdown.

“If anyone has any information regarding the rabbits we would ask them to contact me on the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
