Three Yorkshire cooks blow MasterChef judges away as the final approaches

Three Yorkshire cooks impressed MasterChef judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace in the semi-final episode on Thursday.

The first task challenged the eight chefs to make a dish using either chicken or egg.

51-year-old Olayemi from Harrogate made a spiced roast chicken leg with couscous while Eddie from Beverley wowed the judges with his roast chicken breast with tarragon and white wine sauce, sautéed potatoes and charlotte bread pudding.

The youngest contestant on the show, a 23-year-old law graduate from Bradford paid homage to her dad's favourite meal, egg curry.

The three cooks managed to impress John and Gregg enough to avoid elimination and viewers said goodbye to Thomas and James.

Also making it through to the next round was Pookie, Ioan and Sarah.

Being put into pairs, each team was then in charge of serving a dish at a special dinner to celebrate the Royal British Legion’s 100th anniversary in London.

They were under the direction of Michelin starred chef Glynn Purnell who designed the three-course meal each team had to cook.

In charge of starters, which were scallops, was Ioan and Olayemi who impressed the diners and called their dish a 'work of art'.

Next, it was Pookie and Eddie's turn to get the venison mains out on time, which again went down a treat with the diners and judges.

Finally, Sarah and Radha finished the event with their dessert, a crème Brulee served in an eggshell accompanied with a strawberry sorbet.

All six cooks have made it through to the last semi-final episode which will determine who will be competing in the grand final next week.

People watching the show were quick to show their support for the Yorkshire cooks with many predicting Eddie will go the whole way.
