A three-year-old girl has been killed after being hit by a car driven by her mum.
The youngster, who is known as Lina, is believed to have ran out to meet her mum when she drove the SUV into the car park.
According to witnesses the child was knocked to the ground in the Luzerne County, Pennsylvania park.
Reports say the tot was rushed to Wilkes Barre General Hospital but doctors were unable to save her.
Her family had gathered at the park on Saturday to celebrate the 18th birthday of the toddler's aunt, according to US news outlet WNEP.
Relatives said they did not know how the girl came to be behind the car, reports The Mirror .
Witness Steven Olivares said: “A lot of people were screaming, a lot of children were just confused. It was scary."
He said that the incident had hit him "pretty hard.”
Lina’s aunt told WNEP her niece was “always smiling, beautiful and smart beyond her three years”.
People living close to the park have long expressed concerns about the way people drive on the roads leading to it.
They often break the speed limit and ignore a stop sign, they said.
On Sunday Lina's family gathered at the park once again to mourn her death.
They erected a memorial and released balloons into the sky.
