Three-year-old boy snatched from family farm in horror attack by ravenous lion

A three-year-old boy was snatched by a ravenous lion, sparking a massive manhunt before his remains were found.

Nitin Rakeshbhai Mehda was taken by the big cat as it prowled through his family farm and tore into him in Ghanshyam Nagar in Savarkundla, India.

A huge search was launched to track down the tragic youngster involving emergency services.

Investigators managed to located some body parts, but Nittin’s torso and arms were nowhere to be seen.

It’s believed the tot was devoured by the animal.

Forestry workers went out in force to lay traps in a bid to capture the lion behind a “reign of terror” on the small community.

But the traps failed to catch the predator and it remained at large as of Friday.

Earlier this month, police in India killed a tiger after it savaged at least nine people.

The tiger was dubbed the “man-eater of Champaran” and around 200 police officers and district officials were involved in the hunt for it.

Some cops were patrolling the area in the Bihar state on elephants.

India is home to more than 70 per cent of the world’s tigers and reserves have not expanded at the same rate as its tiger population.

It has forced some tigers to go into human-occupied areas for food, which has resulted in livestock and sometimes people being killed.

The tiger, known as T-104, was three-years-old and had been cornered in a sugarcane field.

Kumar Gupta, chief wildlife warden for the region, told the Times of India the tiger was “dangerous to human lives”.

A mum and her child had been killed in a tiger attack.
