Three women have been rushed to hospital following a horror road crash in the Highlands.
Police were called to the scene of the two vehicle crash on the A9 in Tain at 3.30pm this afternoon.
A 79-year-old woman has been air lifted to Raigmore Hospital with another two women, aged 60 and 20, have also been taken to hospital by ambulance.
Traffic Scotland have warned drivers to take care approaching the road near the B914 in Tain as the road remains closed.
Police say diversions have been put in place for motorists.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called around 3.30pm on Friday, 28 April, 2021 following the report of a two vehicle road crash on the A9 at the B914 near Tain.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance. A 76-year-old woman has been taken to Raigmore Hospital by helimed and two other women, aged 60 and 20, have also been taken to Raigmore Hospital by ambulance.
“The road is closed in both directions and local diversions are in place.”
