Three women held from Pune for burglary at house in Dombivli

KALYAN: The Thane police's Kalyan crime unit arrested three women, including two sisters, for targeting a house in Dombivli and making away with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh on June 2.

The accused have been identified as Sarika Shankar Sakat, her sister Sujata Shankar Sakat and Meena Umesh Ingle.

The police said the accused targeted victim Chaitali Shetty's house situated in Nilakanth Society in Dombivli.

According to the investigator, on June 2, Shetty, after locking her flat's doors, went to work in the morning during which the accused broke into the flat and made away with the cash and valuables.

After Shetty lodged an FIR, Kalyan crime unit led by senior police inspector Kishore Shirsath began the probe. With the help of CCTV footage, the police arrested the trio from Purandar in Pune and seized all the stolen valuables.

An official said the arrested accused women have past criminal record.
