Three West Lothian homes targeted in attempted break-ins in just two days

Police are investigating three attempted break-ins in the space of two days and fear the culprits could have been trying to steal luxury cars.

The first took place in the early hours of Sunday, April 2, when the owner of a property in the Bishops Park area, Mid Calder, discovered a patio door forced open. No items were stolen from within.

Around 4.30am the next day two men were seen on CCTV acting suspiciously at a property in the Hawthorn Bank area, Seafield, and trying to open the front door, although no entry was gained.

And around 4.55am on 3 April, 2023, two men were seen approaching a property in the Howison Court area of Livingston and acting suspiciously.

They were observed on CCTV taking interest in two vehicles parked in the driveway. The men, described as wearing dark clothing and face coverings, then made off in an unknown direction.

Detective Sergeant Keith Sinclair said: “Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing, and they appear to be all linked to the presence of high value cars.

“I would appeal to locals who noticed any suspicious behaviour around the times of these incidents to please make contact.

“We are particularly keen to speak to people with CCTV, dash-cam or doorbell cameras, and ask that you check for any relevant footage that could assist.”

If you notice anything suspicious in your area, contact police on 101 immediately. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
