Three ways to boost your chances of winning McDonald’s Monopoly 2019

McDonald's Monopoly back - and people are getting excited.

Top prizes include £100,000 in cash, a new MINI, a £2,000 holiday and a PS4 Pro - and that's on top of the food.

Then there are thousands and thousands of burgers, fries, meals and more you can win instantly.

Customers enter the competition by picking up game pieces attached to the packaging of everything from chips to salads and carrot bags, as well as Big Flavour Wraps.

But how can you boost your chances of winning big? We've managed to find three main tactics to help you.

Rare McDonald's Monopoly pieces you need to keep an eye out for as game returns

1. Be careful when you use your online codes

A lot of people simply drop their Monopoly game pieces into a pocket or bag then forget about them - we've certainly been guilty of that in the past.

But even if it's a tile you've already collected, you shouldn't ignore it.

All tokens come with a code you can use online on the McDonald's website that give you the chance to win again.

There are prizes of as much as £100 on offer - as well things like food and NOW TV passes.

There's just one problem - you only win if you put your code in at what McDonald's is terming a "winning moment".

And to boost your odds you need to enter when other people are less likely to, according to  MoneySavingExpert.com.

That means lunch breaks are out, as you are more likely to clash with other people doing the same thing.

But early morning or late at night you have less competition for the prizes.

2. Keep an extra look out for rare game tiles

Every year there are tiles that are harder to find - this year's are listed below along with the prizes they're linked to.

  • Dark Blue - Mayfair - £100,000
  • Green - Bond Street - Mini Cooper
  • Yellow - Coventry Street - £2,000 holiday with LoveHolidays
  • Red - Strand - PS4 PRO
  • Station - Liverpool Street - A phone of your choice with a 12-month Sky Mobile contract
  • Orange - Marlborough Street - UrbanEars wireless headphones
  • Pink - Northumberland Avenue - £50 JD sports voucher
  • Light Blue - Euston Road - £30 Boohoo voucher
  • Brown - Old Kent Road - Medium value meal

There are also more of these prizes available as "instant win" tiles.

3. Look out for tiles other people don't want

Lots of people check their tiles for instant wins, but abandon them if they need to be collected.

That means if you spot empty packets or cups with tiles attached, it might be worth seeing if it's one you can use.

It's simplest if you ask people if you can have they're tiles if they're not collecting them, but if you see an abandoned packet it's highly unlikely someone will object to you picking it up - especially if you then put it in the bin after you've checked for a tile.

What is McDonald's Monopoly?

If you've never played before, it's pretty simple to get involved.

Essentially, all you need to do is head to your nearest McDonald's branch and order your food like normal, either on the app (on Android and Apple ), on the in-store screens, or at the good old customer service desk.

Once you get your food, all qualifying items will feature up to three game pieces on the side of their packaging, such as large fries or chicken selects.

Some are be instant prizes - like a free drink, fries or burger - and there's also be an online code that can be redeemed for a voucher or prize.

You have until April 30 to get involved.
