Three ways Home Bargains is thanking staff for hard work during "very challenging time"

Home Bargains has announced three ways it is thanking staff for their hard work during a “very challenging time”.

The discount retailer has confirmed stores will be closed on Boxing Day to give staff time to make the most of their Christmas break at home.

Stores will also be closing at the earlier time of 5pm on Christmas Eve.

Many staff members will also be seeing an extra two weeks’ salary arrive in their bank accounts this month, in time for Christmas.

This comes after the retailer announced in April that any staff members required to self-isolate during the coronavirus pandemic would receive up to two week’s pay. Now, Home Bargains is ensuring all staff receive that pay regardless of whether they have been required to self-isolate or not.

This means any staff member employed before March 22 who has not needed to self-isolate will now receive two week’s extra pay in November.

A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “We want to recognise how hard our staff have worked throughout some very challenging times and allow them to relax and truly enjoy the break safely with their loved ones.

“Home Bargains is a family-run business, and we know the importance of being together at Christmas time, now more than ever. Our staff work tirelessly to keep all our stores running smoothly no matter what and this is our way of saying thank you to all of our staff for their hard work and commitment.”
