King Power Duty Free, Bangkok Airways and Royal Orchid Sheraton (Thailand) submitted their bids to win the contract from Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) to run duty-free shops at Suvarnabhumi airport on Wednesday.

AoT senior executive vice president Wichai Bunyu said the three were among five parties that earlier bought bidding documents from AoT. Central Department Store Co and Minor International Plc did not file their bids.

AoT considered King Power Duty Free, Bangkok Airways and Royal Orchid Sheraton (Thailand) as qualified bidders for the contract, he said. The three companies would place their quotations later.

AoT received technical bids from the three parties on Wednesday morning.

In the afternoon, the state enterprise received bids for a separate contract to develop other commercial areas at Suvarnabhumi airport.

King Power Suvarnabhumi, Central Pattana and Minor International placed bids, but AoT disqualified Minor International for lacking experience in managing commercial areas for at least five years.

That left King Power Suvarnabhumi and Central Pattana as qualified contenders for the second contract.
