Three Trafford Centre restaurants are still closed because of 'food hygiene issues'... but bosses won't tell us what's going on

Three Trafford Centre restaurants are still closed because of 'food hygiene issues' - but bosses won't tell us why.

Chaobaby, Tru Street, Zizzi and Yang Sing Cathay were forced to shut late last week after 'concerns' were raised during 'routine' environmental health inspections between Wednesday and Friday (October 23 to 25).

Shopping centre bosses have now confirmed that three of the restaurants - Chaobaby, Zizzi and Yang Sing - are still closed.

A spokeswoman for the Trafford Centre said bosses were working with the 'relevant parties' for a 'speedy resolution'.

They did not reveal further details about the specific reasons for the closure.

The Manchester Evening News also asked Trafford council to explain the precise nature of the concerns. The town hall has so far refused to reveal any further information.

In a statement, the Trafford centre said: “Three restaurants remain closed while our tenants - Chaobaby, Zizzi and Yang Sing (Cathay) - address concerns that were raised by environmental health officers last week.

"As a responsible landlord, we want to ensure that our stringent health and safety standards are met before they re-open their doors to the public.

"We continue to work closely with all relevant parties for a speedy resolution."

In an initial statement on Friday, Trafford council said four restaurants were 'temporarily closed' to 'address food hygiene issues'.

When the M.E.N. pushed further details, a spokesman said he was 'unable to comment further at this stage'.

The full town hall statement read: "Trafford council’s environmental health officers conducted a number of food hygiene inspections of restaurants at the intu Trafford Centre from October 23 to 25.

“Following these inspections the owners of four businesses agreed to temporarily close their restaurants while they addressed food hygiene issues that were identified.

“The council’s officers are continuing to work closely with those businesses to ensure that they are all able to re-open as soon as possible.”
