Three things noticed as Manchester United train at National Stadium in Singapore ahead of Inter Milan clash

Manchester United have been stepping up their preparations as they get ready to face Inter Milan in the third fixture of their 2019 pre-season tour.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to the press on Friday ahead of the game before his side took part in an open training session at the National Stadium in Singapore.

There were a few notable players missing from the training session, while United welcomed back two players who have not featured yet during the pre season tour.

United can make it three wins from three when they face Inter this weekend and here is what we learnt from training.

Lukaku watches on

Romelu Lukaku was high on the agenda on Friday and he was present as the rest of his United teammates trained ahead of the match at the National Stadium.

Speaking earlier in the day Solskjaer said the Belgian forward is still not fit enough to play, and in turn he refused to be drawn on a follow-up question about his future.

Lukaku instead sat on the bench in a club tracksuit and watched on as the rest of his teammates took part in the session. Inter Milan themselves arrived at the stadium just hours later for their own press conference, and you still have to wonder if he will end the summer part of their contingent instead.

Three players welcomed back

David de Gea is set to play a big chunk of the match against Inter this weekend, and he was one of three players welcomed back by the United manager on Friday.

Fred and Matteo Darmian both travelled to Singapore earlier in the week and could get their first match action of the summer after returning to the training squad.

Darmian's career still looks over at Old Trafford, but it will be interesting to see what role Fred gets in the squad next season. Solskjaer will be looking to settle on a preferred set-up ahead of the new campaign and it remains to be seen just how involved Fred is in the wider picture at United.

Pogba the star of the show

Everywhere they go Paul Pogba is the star of the show. There were laughs on the previous leg of the tour when the local council representatives pointed out Pogba actually has an Instagram following larger than that of the population of Australia.

His large popularity is just as evident in Singapore, and as he walked out onto the pitch he got the loudest reception of any of the playing staff who joined him.

The France international treated the spectators to some sensational skill during the rondo session as he scooped the ball high over Eric Bailly, the screams it produced from his teammates almost as loud as those which accompanied him out onto the pich.
