Three opportunistic teenagers were caught on CCTV driving off in a vehicle that had been parked outside a shop.
The owner of the Volkswagen Golf left it outside a supermarket on Glenheights Road, Ballyvolane, in Cork city on Thursday evening and within a minute the car was stolen.
The keys of the car had been left in the ignition as the owner ran into the shop and the windscreen wipers were left on.

CCTV footage shows three people running across the green, before hopping in the car and swiftly driving off.
It's understood the owner of the car lives nearby and had gone into the shop when the vehicle was stolen.
The black Golf has a registration of 08-D-51927 and gardaí have confirmed they are investigating the theft.
A garda spokesperson told Cork Beo: "Gardaí are investigating the theft of a car in Ballyvolane, Co. Cork yesterday evening, Thursday 30th March 2023. Investigations are ongoing at this time."
