Three teenagers seriously injured after scooter crash in Lancashire

Three teenagers who were travelling on a scooter have been seriously injured following a collision in Preston.

Lancashire Police said they were called shortly before 8pm on Thursday to reports of a collision on Watling Street Road, Fulwood.

A scooter with three teenagers on board had collided with a Vauxhall Corsa - both had been travelling in the same direction, police said.

The impact caused the scooter to cross the opposite side of the road, colliding with a Peugeot 208 travelling in the opposite direction.

The 17-year-old rider and passengers, aged 16 and 19, suffered serious injuries and are in hospital in "serious" conditions.

Police said the rider suffered a broken arm and broken leg.

The 16-year-old passenger is being treated for a head injury and the 19-year-old suffered multiple injuries, including to his head, back and pelvis.

The road was closed for more than four hours as a collision investigation took place.

Sergeant Tracey Ward, of Lancashire's Road Policing Unit, said her thoughts and "the thoughts of the team" are with those who "are in hospital with serious injuries".

"We need to establish what happened and would urge anyone with information about the collision to get in touch with us as soon as possible," she said.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage that may have captured the incident."

If you can help, call police on 101, quoting log number 1392 of 31 October.
