Three teenagers arrested as 16-year-old boy taken to hospital with head injuries after alleged assault in Consett

A 16-year-old boy was left with head injuries after a vicious alleged assault in Consett over the weekend.

The teenager was taken to University Hospital of North Durham for treatment after the incident in the Delves Lane area on Sunday night around 7pm.

Police confirmed three other teenage boys have now been arrested on suspicion of assault.

A spokesperson from Durham Constabulary said:

'Officers responded to a report of an assault in the Delves Lane area of Consett at around 7pm on Sunday, October 24.'

'A 16-year-old male was located outside of the Traveller’s Rest pub with a head injury, and was transported to University Hospital of North Durham for treatment.'

'Three males in their teens have since been arrested on suspicion of assault and are assisting officers with their enquiries.'
