Three teenage girls in 'sex attack' near Courtown Harbour in Co Wexford

Three teenage girls have reported being sexually assaulted close to a popular tourist beach.

The alleged attack took place on the walkway near

Gardai have refused to release details but sources claimed the three girls, two aged 14 and another aged 16, suffered injuries.

It is believed a group of men were responsible.

The teens, all from Dublin, were reportedly set upon on the path in the busy Burrow area just off the beach.

The spot is popular with locals and tourists during the summer months.

Gardai carried out a forensic examination on Sunday morning and have sought CCTV footage of the walkway entrances.

The girls have been interviewed and an appeal made for witnesses.

A statement read: “Officers are investigating an incident of a serious nature reported to have occurred on 28/07/19.

“Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have information, particularly anyone who was in the Burrow area between 10pm on 27/07/19 and 2am on 28/07/19 who observed any suspicious behaviour to contact them in Gorey on 053 943 0690 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”
