Three taken to hospital after crash shuts major Manchester road for hours

Three people have been rushed to hospital after a major crash on a busy north Manchester road. Emergency services were called out to Rochdale Road, near Boggart Hole Clough, at around 2.30pm today (June 24).

Officers closed off the road between Old Road, in Harpurhey, and Middleton Old Road, in Blackley, for several hours while the scene was cleared. The crash involved a silver SUV car and a white Ford Transit pick-up.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land in the area, but it is understood three casualties were taken to hospital by land ambulance. Firefighters cut out one of the casualties from the car, before he was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with a serious arm injury.
