Three takeaways from Bears’ blowout victory against Jaguars

Three takeaways from the Bears’ blowout victory Sunday against the Jaguars:

Glennon sputters

Former Bears quarterback Mike Glennon was cruising through the first half — he had completed 14 of 17 passes for 106 yards — when he threw an inexcusable interception to Bears linebacker Roquan Smith over the middle. The Bears kicked a field goal to end the half and rattled off 31 points in a row.

Glennon never got back into rhythm.

‘‘It seemed like it went kind of downhill from there,’’ Glennon said. ‘‘Unfortunately, we couldn’t kind of recover from there.’’

Glennon completed 24 of 37 passes for 211 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Graham crackles

Cole Kmet has taken over an every-down role, but tight end Jimmy Graham remains a red-zone weapon. He caught two touchdown passes, marking the 17th time he has had a multi-touchdown game. He leads the Bears with eight scores.

Graham said he was concerned about the truncated preseason but called it ‘‘special’’ that he has earned the trust of the coaches and quarterbacks.

‘‘I’m just trying to win games and continue to play in January,’’ he said. ‘‘Because I believe where I belong is in January.’’

Foles’ return

It wasn’t the return quarterback Nick Foles envisioned when he took a pay cut to facilitate a trade from the Jaguars to the Bears in March, but at least he got into the game. The Bears inserted Foles in the fourth quarter to, except for one incompletion, hand the ball off. It marked Foles’ first action since Nov. 16.
