Three suspected drug dealers arrested after plain clothed police spotted motorbike's dodgy driving

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of dealing drugs after police followed a bike driving erratically in Wigan.

Plain clothed officers were patrolling in the centre of Leigh yesterday evening, July 9, when they spotted a black motorbike driving dangerously.

Officers were able to catch up with the rider after he raced away, and found him and two other men next to a silver Citroen C4 on Platt Street.

All three were arrested and searched, along with the car, and what officers believe to be Class A drugs were found and two men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

Checks on the bike revealed the vehicle had been stolen from the area earlier this year, so the third man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, and handling stolen goods.

A post written by PC Powell, a member of the Leigh, Atherton, and Hindley policing team, read: “Yesterday evening, officers were conducting plain clothes patrols when they came across this motorbike driving erratically in Leigh Town Centre.

“We located the bike a short time after in company with the Citroen on Platt Street where three males were detained and searched under s.23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“The car was also searched and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs were located and seized.

“Checks on the bike revealed it was an outstanding stolen from an address in Leigh, earlier this year.

“The investigation is currently ongoing.”

Anyone concerned about drug use in their area can provide information to the police by contacting 101 or visiting the GMP website.
