Three sororities, one professional fraternity at Ohio University suspended

COLUMBUS, Ohio _ Ohio University suspended three sororities and a professional fraternity Wednesday because of allegations of hazing.

A cease-and-desist order was issued to Delta Zeta's Omicron Gamma chapter; Chi Omega's Tau Alpha chapter; Pi Beta Phi's Ohio Alpha chapter; and Phi Chi Theta, the largest co-ed professional business fraternity at Ohio University, to suspend operations.

The university said in a release that it will not reveal details of the allegations.

However, an initial review by the Ohio University police found that none of the cases involving the four organizations rises to the level of actionable criminal activity.

The suspensions are in addition to those issued previously to all 15 Interfraternity Council fraternities, including nine fraternities the university is investigating for hazing prospective members.
