Three Sisters star Patsy Ferran: 'You have to let go of control and trust the other actors'

Three Sisters star Patsy Ferran thanked her fellow cast members for helping her get through an on-stage “wobble” in the play.

The actress, who plays Olga in the Chekhov classic at Islington’s Almeida, said the 14-strong cast had been “very lucky” that “things clicked”. She said: “You just have to let go of the fact that you control everything and trust your other actors because that’s all you’ve got in the end.

“If you’re up on stage and you’re having a wobble you have to look at someone who will be there for you and carry on together.”

She praised director Rebecca Frecknall’s work in making the story, set in Russia in the early 20th century, so “timeless”.

Co-star Pearl Chanda, who plays middle sister Masha, said the story of the three young women was “obviously relevant” today. “The characters are so young and are asking their elders what to do and the elders don’t know, and if you think about Brexit and everything happening now, it’s the same.”
