Three serious assaults at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee as cops launch probe

Police have launched a probe after three serious assaults were recorded at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee.

The incidents took place on Sunday, May 28 and are believed to have happened as people left the event.

The first assault took place at around 10.45pm between Camperdown Park and the designated bus park for The Big Weekend.

The Record reported how 28-year-old had her jaw smashed by a violent thug in a shocking, unprovoked attack. She was seriously assaulted by the man after she witnessed him appearing to assault another unknown woman.

Keris was treated at hospital and subsequently reported the attack to police on Tuesday, 30 May.

The suspect is described as being in his early 30s, tall and with a slim build.

The second incident took place an hour later on Lochee High Street, at around 11.40pm, when a man attacked two 22-year-old men and one of them sustained serious injuries.

The suspect is described as being aged around 20-30, with short dark hair, wearing a light-coloured top and dark shorts. It is believed he was accompanied by an unknown woman, and officers are keeping an open mind as to whether this is linked to the earlier incident near Camperdown Park.

Detective Constable David Feeney said: “We know that the areas of these incidents were busy with people leaving The Big Weekend and would ask anyone who believes they witnessed anything, or has any information, to please come forward.

“You can contact police on 101, quoting crime number CR/100106/23. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
