April 23--Three men convicted of a 2013 gang-related murder in Pasadena were sentenced this week to life in prison without the possibility of parole, prosecutors said.
Peter Parra, 38, of Pasadena, Kevin Jessie Cabrera, 27, of North Hollywood and Raymond Frank Conchas, 26, of Covina were sentenced late Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
On Jan. 15, 2013, Zane Goldstein, 21, of Pasadena, agreed to meet the men in an alleyway near Maple Street and Chester Avenue for a drug deal, the district attorney's office said. When Goldstein arrived, Parra, Cabrera and Conchas tried to rob him and shot him in the head with a shotgun as he tried to escape, prosecutors said.
Parra, Cabrera and Conchas were found guilty in February of one count each of first-degree murder, attempted second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. The jury agreed with a special circumstance allegation that the murder was committed during a robbery, that a shotgun was used and that the crime was for the benefit of a gang.
A fourth man, John Michael Piepoli, 21, of Pasadena was convicted of Goldstein's murder and sentenced in November to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Ward Lacey IV, 21, of Pasadena, also is allged to have been involved in Goldstein's death and has been charged with one count each of first-degree murder, attempted second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Lacey is scheduled to appear in court in May for a pre-trial hearing in the case, which was investigated by the Pasadena Police Department.
