Three Rams make top 50 in NFL merchandise sales

The Los Angeles Rams appear to be one of the most exciting and popular teams in the NFL after winning their division the last two years, but merchandise sales suggest otherwise. Fans still aren’t going out and buying jerseys of their favorite Rams players despite their increased exposure to national audiences.

The NFL Players Association released its annual list of the top 50 players in merchandise sales, spanning from March 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019. Three Rams made the list this year, which is up from just one a year ago.

Todd Gurley checked in at No. 14 – up 27 spots from 2018 – with Jared Goff ranking 29th among all players. Aaron Donald, the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, was No. 50 in the NFL. Goff and Donald failed to make the top 50 in 2018.

Not surprisingly, Tom Brady was No. 1, followed by Dak Prescott, Carson Wentz, Ezekiel Elliott and Patrick Mahomes in the top five.

Some notable players surprisingly ahead of Goff and Donald are Adam Thielen (16), Mitchell Trubisky (17), Nick Foles (24) and Sam Darnold (26), who wasn’t a member of the Jets until late April.

Goff was 40th on the list the year following the 2016 NFL draft, while Gurley was 18th. They’ve both hovered around those spots the last two years, but there hasn’t been as much improvement as expected – especially considering the rapid rise of players such as Carson Wentz, Prescott and even Deshaun Watson.
