Three pundits predict exact same scoreline in Southampton vs Manchester United

Manchester United know that their victory over Liverpool will mean nothing if they don’t beat Southampton at Saturday lunchtime.

Fans were given renewed optimism with Monday’s 2-1 win and will want to see their team kick on after a horrid start to the season. They are eager to see new signing Casemiro be handed his debut following his transfer from Real Madrid.

He is the world-class defensive midfielder United have longed for and supporters are eager to see how Ten Hag lines up against Saints. A number of pundits believe the Reds will have too much for Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side, although the scoreline will be close.

“This won't be an easy one for Manchester United and boss Erik ten Hag. I didn't see United turning up against Liverpool, I don't think anybody did, but I think they can back up their victory and edge this one.”

Prediction: Southampton 1-2 United

Paul Merson (Sportskeeda)

“This Premier League game is as big a match as the one against Liverpool. We've seen this before with them - you can't afford to beat Liverpool and then lose to Southampton.

"That's the worry with Manchester United. They've got to turn up and do well in the games they're expected to win.

“If they win this, they've got two victories on the trot followed by a home game and before you know it, they've moved up the Premier League table. If they lose against Southampton, they've lost to three teams they're expected to defeat.

“I'd expect Manchester United to win this game, but I wouldn't be too shocked if Southampton pulled off an upset.”

Prediction: Southampton 1-2 United

Mark Lawrenson (Paddy Power)

“What a contrast, the way Manchester United played in the last game compared to the first two games, it’s amazing. The players that played on Monday told the manager that he can pick them every game now.

“Southampton got taken apart on the first day and then they’ve had some good results. United have set a benchmark now.”

Prediction: Southampton 1-2 United
