Three PSOs allegedly assaulted at Melbourne's Flinders Street Station

Emergency services at Flinders Street station after three PSOs were allegedly assaulted.

Police have laid charges after three Protective Services Officers (PSOs) were allegedly attacked in Melbourne's CBD this morning.

Victoria Police said the male PSOs were set upon outside Flinders Street Station just after 1:30am.

Two were taken to hospital with various injuries including a bite wound, while the other was treated at the scene for facial injuries.

Two men aged 19 and 20, along with a 20-year-old woman, were all charged with assault and resisting arrest and will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates court early next year.

About 1,300 PSOs patrol 216 Victorian train stations and several major public buildings.

They have been on Victorian train stations since 2012, and have issued 75,000 infringements in that time.

Flinders Street Station is the busiest train station in Australia, and was recently ranked one of the worst for safety by women surveyed in a Monash University study.
