Paris Saint-Germain are favourites to sign Lionel Messi after the shock announcement that Barcelona couldn't sign the Argentine to a new contract.
Messi had hoped to sign a new deal at the Nou Camp, though Barcelona's current financial predicament means he has to look for a new club.
A major plus point for any team that hope to sign Messi is that they don't have to spend a penny on a transfer fee. However, the matter of his wages could still prove to be a difficult point.
As a result, the French giants might have to cut their wage bills and sell a couple of players to help fund the 34 year old's contract.
Therefore Manchester United and City could potentially look to the PSG team and a few players who could help improve their squad depth, while not proving to be too expensive.
Julian Draxler
The German international signed a new three-year contract with PSG back in May but the French side's plans for the attacking midfielder may change if they have a chance of signing Messi.
Draxler, while perhaps not going on to become the player he was expected to be at a young age, has proven himself to be a dependable and versatile asset in a star-studded PSG squad.
Having been out of favour at the end of Thomas Tuchel's spell at the club, Draxler enjoyed increased involvement under Mauricio Pochettino who noticed the German's talents.
Over five years at the Parc des Princes, the 27 year old has scored 24 goals in 175 appearances.
While Draxler would unlikely start at either United or City, the playmaker has the experience, quality and versatility to improve the depth of both squads and would provide another reliable asset they can throw into the starting lineup.
Leandro Parades
The 27-year-old Argentina international is a tenacious, aggressive midfielder who at PSG has been able to sit in front of the back four and do the dirty work well.
He was a regular starter for the French side in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season, and was also part of the starting line-up in Argentina's Copa America final victory over Brazil.
This season he is set to face more competition for a starting place in the PSG midfield, after the signing of ex-Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer.
He is a player who particularly for United, would improve their depth in midfield and challenge Fred and Scott McTominay for a starting eleven position in place of Nemanja Matic who is now 33 years old.
Parades has got all the qualities to excel for a team in a deep midfield role and his ability to disrupt win the ball could prove to be a valuable asset.
Thilo Kehrer
The 24 year old, while very talented, could find it tough to nail down a starting-spot this season with Sergio Ramos joining Kehrer, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe at the French giants.
One of Kehrer's biggest capabilities is his versatility. Naturally he's a centre-back, but is equally adept at playing right-back, having done so on many occasions for the German national team.
Having also played as a defensive midfielder, he could give a manager plenty of options to make numerous tactical changes or fill in a different position if there is an injury.
The German who made 33 appearances for PSG last season carries immense physical ability and is quick enough to fill in any gaps left in behind him by other players.
While he has struggled to nail down a regular starting place partly due to past injuries and high competition at the French giants, he is still relatively young and could become a top player at the right club.
