Three Premier League fixture changes for Leeds United announced due to European competition

Three Leeds United fixtures have been moved due to other clubs’ Champions League and European commitments. A Premier League announcement confirmed a schedule reshuffle, with the Whites falling victim to the knock-on effect.

A hectic April will result in Leeds playing seven fixtures as the Premier League run-in heats up. The congestion is escalated further by the unprecedented winter World Cup pausing all top-flight action for over a month earlier in the season.

United’s home clash against Crystal Palace, originally pencilled in for Saturday, April 8 (5.30pm KO), will now take place a day later (Sunday, April 9) at 2pm. In an online update, “consequent to the movement of Southampton vs Manchester City” was given as the explanation.

Leeds were originally meant to welcome Liverpool to Elland Road on Saturday, April 15 for a 3pm kick-off but the game has now been chosen for Sky Sports’ flagship show Monday Night Football (Monday, April 17, 8pm KO). The Whites are aiming to achieve a league double over the Reds following the 2-1 win at Anfield in October.

Finally, the trip to Bournemouth scheduled for Saturday, April 29 (3pm KO) is now a 2pm kick-off the next day (Sunday, April 30). The Premier League state “consequent to the movement of Southampton vs Bournemouth” three days earlier as the reason.
