Three police officers and a driver were injured after a dramatic crash on a busy road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the police car and a black estate car collided on Thursday afternoon.
Photographs published by the Liverpool Echo show the significant damage the police car sustained after it hit a set of railings.
But it emerged today the officers sustained slight, non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the black car also suffered slight injuries after the serious smash in Birkenhead, Merseyside.
No arrests have been made, but the investigation continues, police said today in an update.

"Emergency services are currently in Birkenhead following reports of a road traffic collision between a police car and a car," a spokesman for Merseyside Police said following the crash.
"The collision is reported to have happened at 3:50pm on Duke St, Birkenhead (travelling towards Cleveland St).

"The driver of the car has been taken to hospital for assessment, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
"Three officers have also been treated at the scene and are again believed to have sustained non life-threatening injuries.
"There is also some damage to street furniture that the council are aware of and dealing with."
Several road closures were put in place after the crash, which caused significant damage to a police car after it was shoved into a set of railings.
The black car involved had to be cut apart by fire crews to get the driver out.
A police spokesman added: "If you witnessed the collision and have information you’d like to share with us, please contact us via social media @MerPolCC quoting log 569 of 7 May."
