Tottenham can save £89m by opening transfer talks for three signings in January

While much of the next few transfer windows will be focused on keeping Harry Kane in the building, Tottenham will want to surround him with as much talent as possible.

Moving swiftly in January to start negotiating with these players is one way to ensure Kane stays and helps Spurs once again become a force to be reckoned with in and around Europe.

And it doesn’t have to be done by breaking the bank, with plenty of cup winners and high-profile talent who will be on the market fo free in 12-months time.

The opportunity to sign these stars is one the north London-side would be amiss to pass up, especially as they are players who they already have a lot of knowledge of from previous dealings with.

Paulo Dybala, Juventus

A move to north London was on the cards but ultimately fell through back in 2019.

"It was more or less last year at this point when Juventus didn't want to count on me, didn't want me to continue playing here," Dybala told CNN in 2019.

"That's when I was contacted and there were some clubs that were interested in me. Among those were Manchester United and Tottenham.”

Years later, Spurs should once again make their move and feel confident about doing so.

In managing director Fabio Paratici they have the person who signed him for Juventus when he was a 21-year-old and there’s every chance he can repeat the trick seven years later.

Transfermarkt value: £45m

Andrea Belotti, Torino

The addition of Belotti shouldn’t signal the end of Harry Kane’s career in north London. If anything, it is a sign that Spurs are trying to surround their captain with more top-quality players who can help the team lift silverware in the near future.

In the Torino striker, Tottenham would be getting a player who helped fire Italy to glory at the 2020 European Championships.

Strong on either foot, the capture of the 27-year-old would also be a huge blow to rivals Arsenal – who have been linked with him in the past.

That Spurs have reportedly, via Sky Italia in 2020, bid for Belotti in the past shows that this is a player on their radar and could easily revive their interest in a few months time.

Transfermarkt value: £31.5m

Thomas Strakosha, Lazio

Hugo Lloris’ Spurs career is drawing to a close and replacing such a stalwart of the club won’t be easy.

In Strakosha, however, Tottenham have a player they have scouted in the past.

Failing to get him in 2020, his availability two years later would mean the club saved millions of pounds for their future No 1.

Speaking last season after Lazio’s impressive start to the Serie A campaign, the Albanian admitted that he still had areas of his game that he could improve upon.

“I can improve on everything until the day I stop,” he said.

With a further two seasons of top-flight football under his belt, his signing on a free transfer could be a seamless transition from one brilliant goalkeeper to the next.

Transfermarkt value: £12.6m
