Three period Bristol properties for sale that are as impressive as their price tags

With more and more new builds making their way to the property market, buyers may have started to forget about the many gorgeous period properties our city is home to. Full of character and historic features, these properties have a certain charm that a new build will never recreate.

And while period properties can be more expensive, you do get a lot for your money. Often buyers looking for a 'turnkey' property won’t consider somewhere that may need work, but there are many on the market that just require basic updating and the addition of any modern trimmings you want.

We had a look on Rightmove to see some of the most impressive period properties on offer in Bristol, although all three require an equally impressive budget. Whether you're in the market for a millionaire pad or you're just curious to see inside, have a scroll of the images below:

Hanbury Road, Clifton

Asking Price: £2,050,000

Number of bedrooms: 6

26 Hanbury Road (Kinght Frank Estate Agents)

Located in Clifton, this property has it all from the views to ‘high-quality’ local amenities not too far away. There are some excellent independent shops to the east, on Whiteladies Road, while to the west, Clifton Village offers a variety of restaurants and delis. The area also offers great schools and nurseries for young families.

The house itself is a large Victorian family home covering four separate floors. The lower ground floor is essentially an independent flat within the house equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and separate living room, with the garage that opens out onto the off-road parking also being on this level.

With period features throughout, like the stairs and bay windows, there is ample room in this property that has a total of six bedrooms. There are also five separate bathrooms throughout as well as two living rooms, a drawing room, dining room, two kitchens and a conservatory to the rear. The property also offers a decent sized garden which the sun hits at certain points in the day.

A particularly cool feature with this property is the raised ground floor that offers two different levels across one floor - not something you see everyday, especially in a period property.

St. Michaels Hill, Kingsdown

Asking Price: £1,900,000

Number of bedrooms: 6

Our next property is described as being a ‘hidden gem’ that while ‘tucked away’ has a very convenient location in relation to a lot of the city. Again located in the Clifton area this property is not too far from Bristol University or the Bristol Royal Infirmary as well as the same schools as the previous property.

This grade two listed Victorian family home is not just one property but two, with the little cottage on the premises part of the sale. In the main house there are three floors with a total of five decent sized bedrooms, three bathrooms - one being the large family one - a more modern kitchen, a sitting room with original features, a snug and the conservatory leading out onto the garden.

The cottage has a more modern feel to it but there are features like the beams in the bedroom that keeps the period theme going. Made up of three rooms, the open-plan kitchen-living room, the bathroom and the bedroom, this cottage gets ample light and has oodles of space for the size.

Church Road, Sneyd Park, Stoke Bishop

Asking Price: £1,650,000

Number of bedrooms: 5/6

Church Road (Leese & Nagle (Rightmove))

Located in the Stoke Bishop area, the final property on our list is tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy roads, in a peaceful and quiet neighbourhood. Just a five-minute walk from Durham Down, this is the perfect property for a family looking to make the place their own, or a couple looking for their retirement home away from the city.

With four floors and a separate garage, this property has much to offer. In a slightly different layout to the previous two properties, the kitchen is located on the lower ground floor along with a joint dining and living area that goes out onto the large garden.

On the ground floor there is a second but larger living room, looking out onto the garden, as well as the large entrance hall and a room that could be used as a dining room but was previously used as a sixth bedroom. The remaining five bedrooms can be found on the first and second floors along with two bathrooms, both equipped with baths.
