Three people vanished from the mangled wreckage of an overturned car after it smashed into a tree

Three people miraculously escaped from the mangled wreckage of a car after it smashed into a tree and overturned in Stockport.

The Volkswagen T-Roc was so badly damaged that the boot was completely folded in half, the suspension arm was ripped off and the roof came apart.

Now police are keen to trace the people who were involved in the crash as they are likely to be badly injured.

Officers were called to Bramhall Park Road, a quiet residential street in the leafy suburb of Bramhall, at around 1.50am this morning.

Eyewitnesses had seen the driver speeding along the road before the crash.

They then saw three people leaving the car. They did not have further details about the occupants.

An investigation was launched and police discovered the car had been stolen during a burglary.

Sgt Matt Picton from the GMP Traffic team, said: "It looks like they have managed to get out and walk away. I have been to fatalities where there was less damage (to the car). How they have got out of it, I'll never know.

"If there are any witnesses, please give us a call."

Reports can be made to police on 101. Or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
