Three people taken to hospital following crash in West End of Newcastle

Three people were taken to hospital after a crash off Westgate Road in Newcastle.

At around 1.45pm on Sunday, a BMW and a Ford Ranger crashed on Mill Lane in the west end of the city near to the Asda supermarket.

Two ambulances were called to the collision and police cordoned off the road until the cars involved were recovered.

The driver of the BMW and a child passenger were injured but are expected to make a recovery.

The Ford Ranger driver suffered minor injuries and also had hospital treatment.

Northumbria Police has said it is investigating.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "At about 1.45pm yesterday afternoon police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Mill Lane in the west end of Newcastle.

"Emergency services attended and found that a Ford Ranger and a BMW had been involved in a collision.

"The driver of the BMW and a child passenger were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"The driver of the Ford Ranger was also taken to hospital with minor injuries. Inquiries into the circumstances around the collision are ongoing."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.42pm on Sunday to a road traffic collision on Mill Lane in Newcastle.

"We dispatched two double-crewed ambulances and transported two patients to the Royal Victoria Infirmary. "
