Three people taken to hospital after two-car crash in Hengoed

Three people have been taken to hospital following a two-car crash near Hengoed.

Emergency services received reports of a crash involving two cars on the A469, New Road, near Tir-Y-Berth, Hengoed, at about 8.20pm on Monday.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said one person had to be freed from a vehicle by firefighters using hydraulic equipment.

Two other people were able to escape from vehicles themselves.

A spokeswoman said all three casualties were taken to hospital.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said their involvement in the incident ended at about 9.40pm.

The incident was also attended by Gwent Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service.
