Three people taken to hospital after 'severe' fire which spread to bedroom

Three people have been taken to hospital following a fire in South Gloucestershire.

Firefighters were called to a Hawkesbury farm at 5.14am this morning (October 31).

They found a "severe" fire in Upper Chalkley Lane which had started in the living room of the property, before spreading to a first floor bedroom.

Crews from Yate, Kingswood, Bath, Southmead, Avonmouth, Temple and Patchway all attended and evacuated three people.

A crew from Gloucestershire Fire Service also rushed to the scene.

A firefighter at the scene told Bristol Live two adults and a child were evacuated.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews used 4 x Breathing apparatus, 3x high pressure hose reel, 2 x extension ladders in use.

"Firefighters also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

"Three casualties were treated by paramedics and conveyed to hospital.

"Crews remain on scene. The cause is thought to be accidental.
