Three people taken to hospital after multi-vehicle crash in Northumberland

Three people have been taken to hospital following a collision involving three vehicles earlier this morning.

Emergency services responded to the crash and took three patients to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The multi-vehicle crash happened on the A189 Spine Road near the Woodhorn roundabout in Northumberland at around 11:40AM.

The road was closed but has now been re-opened.

We received these statements regarding the incident from the emergency services.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said:

“Shortly before 12pm today (Wednesday) we received a report of a three-vehicle collision on the A189 Spine Road near the Woodhorn roundabout, Northumberland.

“Officers and emergency services attended the scene and three people have been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The road is temporarily closed but is due to be reopened soon.”

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said:

"We were called to a three vehicle road traffic collision on the A189, Ashington at 11:40 this morning.

"We dispatched three double crewed ambulances and transported three patients to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital."
