Three people taken to hospital after flat fire in Burnage

Three people were taken to hospital after a flat went up in flames in Burnage.

Firefighters were called to the property on Burnage Lane, near to the junction of Green End Road, shortly after 6pm on Friday.

Three residents were evacuated from the building and then taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

It's understood that they were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 6.12pm on the 18 th December, GMFRS were called to reports of an incident on Burnage Lane, Stockport.

"Fire engines from Withington, Whitehall and Stockport were quickly on the scene of an incident involving a residential property.

"Firefighters used two hose reels, breaking in equipment, PPV and Breathing Apparatus to tackle the fire. Firefighters remain at the scene."

Police officers also attended the fire.
