Three people stabbed and boy, 14, arrested for having a gun after knife fight

Two people - including a 14 year old boy who was later arrested for having a gun - are in hospital with stab wounds after a knife fight in Longsight.

Police were called to Meldon Road at around 6.15pm on Monday, and discovered a fight between a group of people who were brandishing knives.

Police believe that there was a firearm present, although it was not discharged.

A man, 38, was taken to hospital with stab wounds. He has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

A 14-year-old boy was also taken to hospital with stab wounds. He has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

They both remain in hospital for treatment and are in a stable condition.

Another boy, aged 15, was taken to hospital with stab wounds. He has since been discharged and arrested on suspicion of assault.

A further person, aged 16, has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

A police cordon was in place along Meldon Road and Copthorne Crescent while police carry out an ongoing investigation.
