Three people rushed to hospital following four-vehicle smash in Highlands

Police Scotland have confirmed that three people were rushed to hospital following a collision involving four vehicles in the Highlands.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the A836 shortly before 3pm on Friday, August 6.

Police and fire crews were forced to close the road between Reay and Thurso near to the smash which involved four vehicles.

Three fire engines and a heavy rescue unit were also in attendance.

Officers confirmed that three people were taken by ambulance to Caithness Hospital and the road was eventually reopened at around 4.55pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 2.55 pm on Friday, August 6 following the report of a four vehicle road crash on the A836 between Reay and Thurso.

“Emergency services attended and three people were taken by ambulance to Caithness Hospital. The road was closed for a short time and reopened around 4.55pm.”
