Three people rushed to hospital following a collision in Cork

Three people were taken to hospital this afternoon following a two-car collision in Ballydesmond, Cork.

Gardai, an ambulance and a helicopter from the Cork-based Irish Community Air Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene of the collision.

At present, it's believed that none of the injuries sustained by those involved in the incident are life-threatening.

Investigations are ongoing.

A garda spokesperson has said: "Gardaí are investigating a two-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred in the Ballydesmond area this afternoon.

The statement adds: "Three persons have been taken to hospital. However, no life-threatening injuries have been notified to Gardaí at this time. Investigations are ongoing. The road remains open to traffic."
