Three people rushed to hospital after two-car crash in Dundalk, Co Louth

Three people were rushed to hospital after a two-car crash in Co Louth on Monday night.

The collision happened shortly after 7pm on the Inner Relief Road in Dundalk.

Three of the occupants were brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where their injuries are described as non-life threatening.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a two car road traffic collision which occurred on Inner Relief Rd, Dundalk, Co. Louth on 2nd March 2020 at approximately 7:45pm. 

"Three people were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with non-life threatening injuries. Investigations ongoing."

This comes just days after three people from Newry, Co Down were killed in a crash in the Louth town.

The two car collision happened near Carrickcarnan on the N1 in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The two occupants of one of the cars – mother and son Mary and Kevin Faxton, who were in their 80s and 50s – were pronounced dead at the scene on the N1.

In the second car, Bryan Magill, who was in his 20s, was killed at the scene. Another male, also in his 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
