Three people killed in Gold Coast crash

Three people have died and six have been injured in a four-vehicle crash on the Gold Coast. (AAP)

Three people have been killed in a four-vehicle crash that left debris strewn over a kilometre on the Gold Coast.

Nine people were injured when a car hit a truck just after midday on Thursday, with two other cars also caught up in the collision at the corner of Arundel Drive and Brisbane Road at Arundel.

Two people died at the scene. The third died later in hospital.

Of the six survivors, one was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition. The other five were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

"We were met with a car versus a truck, plus two other sedans. The debris field for the accident was close to a kilometre long," Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman Adam Flory said.

A dozen ambulances responded to the crash, which will keep a very busy stretch of road closed for some hours.
