Three people killed after road crash in Carrickcarnan, Dundalk, Co Louth

Three people have been killed after a road crash in Dundalk, Co Louth.

The two vehicle collision happened at around 2.15am this morning at Carrickcarnan on the N1.

The road is closed at the moment and local diversions are in place.

Emergency services and gardai rushed to the scene.

A garda spokeswoman said: "A two vehicle collision occurred at approximately 2.15am and one man (early 20s) has been removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

"The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.

"Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are en route to the scene and will conduct their investigations.

"Investigations ongoing."
