Three people, including eleven-year-old boy, injured in a horror crash involving car and bike in Worsley

Three people, including an eleven-year-old boy, have been injured in a horror crash in Worsley after a car reportedly hit a cyclist and careered into a line of parked vehicles.

Residents at the scene in Moorside Road say the vehicle flipped onto its side after the collision.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were at the scene shortly before 6.30pm on Sunday evening (June 7). Moorside Road is closed in both directions.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the incident involved three vehicles and three people were taken to hospital - including an 11-year-old boy.

Eyewitnesses reported that the roof of a white Range Rover had to be cut off by firefighters.

They told the Manchester Evening News: "There’s been a horrendous crash in Worsley on Moorside road. All closed off both ways.

"Loads of fire engines, paramedics and police just at the scene. It looks like quite a few people are injured.

"A female cyclist was being treated for head injuries when I walked past.

"It looked awful - lots of people screaming and shouting in pain.

"Police were still flying up the East Lancs to it when there were lots already being treated.

"Paramedics were treating people inside their cars and lots of residents were helping."

One resident in Moorside Road said they heard a huge bang and ran out to the carnage in the street.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to a report of a collision on Moorside Road in Swinton between a vehicle and a cyclist.

A spokesman for the fire service said they were called at 5.52pm to the incident, involving three vehicles and a cyclist. They said a woman was cut from a car. An 11-year-old boy was also in the car.

"They were both taken to hospital, and were said to have sustained minor injuries," they said.

"Another woman was injured and was taken to hospital. The force's technical response unit was at the scene as the woman had to be cut from the car."
